“ Was walking through Alexandria the other day and needed a caffeine fix, so decided to go into this place on a whim. Turns out they’re an incredible micro-roaster sourced from their own farm in Panama, and the coffee does not disappoint. Recently after getting a Ninja Luxe I’ve been getting more into freshly roasted coffee, and bought a few bags of their medium blend that had been roasted that day. Getting right to it: this coffee is incredible and makes a very delicious drip coffee, as well as espresso and lattes. Being that most of the farms in Panama have very rich soil due to the volcanoes makes for a coffee that has a very earthy and chocolatey taste to it that I really enjoy. It was a little on the steep side for 2 12oz bags, about 40, but that’s to be expected for coffees from this region due to the popularity and quality. I highly recommend checking them out! ”
“ Coffee roasters with an option to get freshly brewed coffee. 2 distinct coffee types with different roasting. If you're looking for a coffee to try - worth your time to get there. Please note, that seating boils down to one table outside & one table inside. Service is very friendly & doing a tasting & explanation about coffee they're selling & roasting. A nice touch - they also have some coffee themed jewelry for sale. ”
“ Via Volcan is a hidden gem! The coffee quality is superb and the service is excellent. I was so impressed with a very limited team on site. Josie was incredibly nice and professional! You can tell the coffee and service are on point by all the regulars! Thanks again for the coffee! ”
“ Coffee Shop No. 151 Via Volcan Old Town Alexandria. VA March 11, 2023; July 19, 2023; February 17, 2024; September 19, 2024 This is my fourth visit to Via Volcan. They were my first experience with a “micro roaster” on March 11, 2023. I met the owner on my first visit. I apologize I don’t remember his name, but he did explain why his shop is special. They roast coffee beans that come from their farm in Panama. I remember being very impressed by how easy it was to converse with the gentleman about his passion for his business. Fast forward to September 19, 2024 and the Old Town Alexandria Coffee Trail. There was no way I was going to miss out on a cortado from Via Volcan if I were in the area; so I had to add them to the trail. They once again created a masterful cortado. On this day I spoke to a friendly young lady who brought out two different coffees for me to try along with my cortado; their medium roast Caturra and their Geisha. I very much enjoyed both coffees, but the Geisha stood out to me because of its floral aromas. The shop is small and probably cannot accommodate a large party, but you and a friend could easily enjoy a meetup while sipping on Via Volcan’s delicious coffee. They are truly a single origin specialty coffee shop so if you enjoy the flavor of coffee I highly recommend this place. I also want to add their cortado is the cheapest in the area! Enjoying life one cortado at a time! ”
“ So nice to find this local little coffee house. Via Volcan serves coffee from beans grown on their family farm in Panama and roasted in house. They feature medium and light roasts that can be prepared or purchased by the bag. I ordered a latte with oat milk and it was so smooth! The menu is simple and that is all that's needed for a product of this quality. The minimalist in me loved everything about the place! The location on west street is right across from the UPS store so my hope is that there will be lots of traffic to keep this place thriving far into the future. Definitely take advantage of the free parking on old town on Sundays. ”
“ Amazing coffee. I am obsessed and stop by regularly. I only get their drip coffee and it’s so good. Super smooth and just tastes so good. Love the staff, super nice and friendly. Def a must try! ”
“ Via Volcan is hands down my favorite coffee shop. My go-to is the freshly brewed drip coffee made with their caturra beans—so smooth, rich, and flavorful. On warmer days, their iced flash brew is my second favorite—equally delicious and refreshing! What I love most is that all their beans come directly from their family farm and are roasted in-house. You can truly taste the care and quality in every cup. Today, I’m sipping a large fresh brewed coffee and, as always, it’s the best. Shout-out to Josie who provides the most exceptional customer service! Her warmth and attentiveness always brighten my day. Highly recommend to any coffee lover! ”
“ We are big fans of Panama coffee and we're really excited to find Via Volcan in Alexandria! Chris and his wife have a great story and bring the coffee directly up from their farm in the Chiriqui region of Panama. The coffee here is excellent, freshly roasted and ground, brewed by pour over as it's meant to be. Chris is extremely friendly and happy to share any information about his coffee and farm in Panama. We will absolutely be back to try some geisha! ”
